The Hi-Lites

Live – 1982

After playing drums for several years with the Earl Bishop Band, it was time for all of us to move on. The Hi-Lites, a local band from Belzoni, Mississippi, asked me to play drums for them. To be honest, I don’t remember everyone’s last names. The Hi-Lites were Harold ? on vocals, Marty ? on lead guitar, Marty Smith on bass, Brady Roberts on keyboards and myself - Ron Collins - on drums. I did not remain a band member for very long, due to the distance from Jackson, MS to Belzoni, MS. It was fun while it lasted.

In 1982, The Hi-Lites won 2nd Runner Up in The J.L. Jones WXLY Battle of the Country Show Down in Flowood, MS. There was only one trophy given, so we decided to take the trophy back to Mars & Steel in Jackson, MS, and have a duplicate made for each of us.

In the short time I played with the Hi-Lites, we recorded 2 tapes of a live show.  Below, you will find the names of each song from each tape.  Click on the song’s name to hear it.
