Heritage House

Showplace

This house was built around 1910 as a showplace home for Mr. and Mrs. Louis Herring, one of Vaiden's prominent families. Mr. Herring, the owner of the Vaiden Brick Yard, was originally from Birmingham, Alabama. Mrs. Herring, the former Ida Virginia Brewer Heggie, a Carroll County native, was a housewife and seamstress, who made all sorts of clothes for her family and families in and around Vaiden.

The stately mansion has maintained its Grace and Charm through the exchange of hands several times. Today's generation may remember her as the Herring - Arrington - Canon home. Heritage House is located at 326 Court Street, southeast of the railroad.

For more information on the Heritage House, contact Rubye H. Miller, P.O. Box 635, Vaiden, Mississippi, 39176, or call 601-464-5376.
